Fatality Crash Closes Highway 69 & Highway 157 Intersection In East Point
Cullman e911 has dispatched multiple emergency response agencies to the intersection of Highway 69 and Highway 157 in the East Point Community.
Rush-hour motorists would be wise to find alternate routes around this area for the next two to three hours (current time 7:19 am).
Two Air Evac medical helicopters have been called to the scene; only one will be needed.
Tragically, there is one fatality from this incident. Cullman County Coroner Jeremy L. Kilpatrick has been called to the location.
A second occupant has been transported to Cullman Regional by ambulance.
Medical personnel from Cullman EMS are currently tending to patients involved in the incident. Personnel from Cullman EMS, Cullman Fire Rescue, Cullman County Sheriff’s Office, Cullman Police Department are working this accident.
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding this mishap is underway.
7:32 am Update: Air Evac medical helicopter has lifted off with one patient. By direction of travel, the aircraft appears headed to Huntsville Hospital.
8:00 am Friday Update: According to the Cullman Police Department, Joseph Dale Spradlin (55) of Cullman was pronounced dead at the scene by the Coroner. A mechanic with Mitch Smith Chevrolet, Mr. Spradlin and was his way to work at the time of the accident.
Lieutenant Jeff Warnke of the Cullman Police Department indicates Spradlin’s vehicle (a Chevy Spark) was struck by a Toyota RAV operated by Ashley Victoria Boackle (25) of Cullman.
Ms. Boackle was the injured transported by air to Huntsville Hospital.
Lieutenant Jeff Warnke on the larger investigation:
“The investigation is underway as to the details of how the wreck occurred. We have witnesses that were interviewed and video of the intersection from a nearby store. Officer Joey Duncan and Jonathan England have gone to Huntsville Hospital to interview the other driver.”
