How do I receive permission to hold a parade, protest, march, run/walk for charity, or other event using city streets and/or sidewalks?
In order to use city owned, or city-maintained property for any type of event, a Special Event Permit is needed. To request a permit, you must complete and submit a Special Event Permit Request Form to the City Clerk’s Office at least thirty (30) days prior to the planned event. The form will be reviewed by the Mayor, Police Chief, Fire Chief, and Parks & Recreation Director. It will then be placed on the agenda for the next regularly-scheduled City Council meeting for Council to either approve or deny. Once an event is approved, the permit must be signed for and picked up from the Mayor’s Office
Can anyone attend a City Council meeting?
Yes. All City Council meetings are open to the public. Meetings are generally held on the 2nd and 4th Monday nights of each month, at 7 p.m. in the City Hall auditorium.
